Community Days| Chicago True Stories of the 1920s with Professional Historical Reenactor Martina Mthisen

May 9, 2024, 12-1:30 pm

Bernard Weinger JCC, 300 Revere Drive, Northbrook

The 1920s are saturated with surprise, sequins, and murder! A fun and funny flapper named Flora tells us how fashion, crime, and prohibition mixed with explosive creativity shaped the decade of the century. Your audience will learn fact from fiction and how reality relates to the 2002 Oscar-winning film Chicago. This interactive and highly engaging program is a front-row seat for the compelling stories of Chicago in the 1920s. Travel back in time and let Flora the flapper educate and entertain your audience.

Professional speaker and educational entertainer Martina Mathisen shares history in a dynamic and interesting way. Martina explores historical characters and brings them "to life" in presentations expressing her personal passion for history as well as the people in her audiences. Each program is engaging, generating, educational, and fun. She has led various programs ranging in topics from classic movies and building public speaking skills, to motivation and literature.

Support for this program has been graciously provided by The Albert and Lucille Delighter and Marcella Winston Foundation, a Supporting Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
